Beauty of the Inauthentic
Perception is an integration of stimulus. It combines different sensory effects over time, into an awareness of entities.
We don’t see a mass of different colors and brightness. Instead, we see objects with properties, like an old building, a beautiful lamp, or a calming palm tree. This is different than knowing what we see, though.
It is not a question if what we perceive is accurate or not. The question is whether we interpret what we perceive correctly, and even if we do, are we still calmed by the perceptual concept of a palm tree, despite the fact that it only resembles one?
